Life after the Wedding

Just to show you that we are thrifty, we used the wedding chapel for our Court of Honor later that month.

This is a true pictureof the "Sanibel Bends", a strange condition that occurs whenever one visits Sanibel Island.

OK, I know it's been three months since we last "blogged you". It seemed that someone always beet us to whatever news we had to tell. Kate sent great pictures of Sara's and Chad's wedding, and Stephen blogged about Jackson so what's there for us to say.

Nothing hew has happened to us here, except we keep on working and Stephen, Beth and family have sold there house and moved in with us while they plan to work on the big house. Stephen calls it the 1869 house for the year it was built.

We took Mom and Paw to Florida for a week's vacation in August. We stayed at Point Santo in a ground floor beach front unit so we could see the ocean while we did everything.

The side of the unit faced the lake and pool area where Becky and I got Mom into the jacuzzi one night. We almost lost her there. She finally made her way out and stumbled back to the unit. Paw never made it.

Mom didn't get down to the beach until about Friday. She was a little reluctant to go down but after she made it down and back she wished she had gone sooner.

We had lunch at "Thistle Lodge" which is at the "Casa Ibell Resort" down a few doors from our condo.

I found this good looking lady outside and took her picture. Isn't she pretty.

We couldn't talk any other of the clan to go with us down there but we had a great time anyway. Maybe next time.

I forgot to take any pictures but Becky and I got to go to Midledgeville to work on a house for a friend at church. We spent a week down there doing all sorts of things and got paid too. I'll try better if we get anoyher chance at some interesting jobs.

I enjoy seeing what is happening over there (where ever that is) and forget that you might want to know what is happening over here. I'll put it short and sweet. It's been hot and dry, very dry. They say if it doesn't start raining bu February, Lake Allatoona will be dry.

We are going to Mississippi the first weekend in November to see her and Chad and to see a dance she will be performing in. I will show you some pictures after that trip.

The Fair has come and gone, cool weather has finally moved in, the leaves may just turn brown and fall off bucause of the dry weather, the apples are in in Elijay but I understand they are not that good (guess why), life is good.

We have a new preacher, Dr. Bill Ross from First Baptist Church in Athens GA. I think he is great so far and think he will do a lot to get our church back on the right track. He seems very eager to get us together, working side by side to do what Gad wants us to do.

I'll colse now but will blog anain soon.

Well, its been too long since I last wrote but we have been busy getting things together for the upcoming wedding. Does it look like we are ready for a wedding? I wanted Sarah to see things before I sent them out for those out of the country to see. I have more that are more advanced that I will send soon.

Can you believe this is our basement? Never knew we had floors and walls. We are trying to get areas ready for the bride to dress and leave out down the isle.
Trying to make benches for 100 in the back yard does lead to some interesting issues.

This is what it might look like from the porch. when finished we will also have a stage and cross.

Flowers, ferns and ferns. Notice the brick collums. Lots to think about and Becky is a great thinker. I will send new photos very soon about what it will really look like.

It's a kitchen!

Becky caught me working. (Ha)

Let's go home.

"Can I cook yet?" she ask.

Could you cook before?

Looking more like a kitchen?

Almost there.
A coat of paint really changes the looks.

Checking for hollidays.
We thought we'd show you some of the things we got involved in with our business. This house was done with First Connection. It was your typical World Changer style work which is with people that cant afford to do their own repairs. It grew daily. We started by being asked to finish some drywall and installing cabinets. When we got there, all the drywall had to be removed and reinstalled, tear out trhe rest of the kitchen, paint, cover the floor, repair electrical issues, install cabinets, sing, disposer, and dishwasher.
We started thinking it might take a week and spent two full weeks there.

All drywall removed, replaced and finished.

Electrical lights over sink had to be installed

Tray ceilings.

Make those walls smooth for painting.

Learning the finner art of putting on mud and taking it off. Don't use too much, but just enough.

And just to make it fun, the lovely oak tree which helps to make the pollen level 5900 plus. This great tree gives shade in the summer, leaves to rake in the fall and tons of pollen which makes us all sneeze and cough in the spring.

Isn't life great!!

The blue berries are blooming and getting ready for another bumber year. They might be some left by the if we don't eat them all first.

Purple azaleas.

Pink azaleas bloom everywhere.

The wisteria hangs full like graprs ready to be picked for the wine.

Just a note to all you that are not with us here in GA. Its srring time everywhere you look. It's only March 29 bujt we are in full bloom.
The Dogwoods are beautiful. No frost to burn them this year.

A great day for cleaning the yard and getting ready for Sarah and Chad's BIG DAY!
(And you thought we had nothing better to do with our time.)
As you can see, Darden has LOTS OF HELP!

Even Chester wants to get in on the clean up.

"Is there going to be a wedding or something?"

Wouldn't you love to have a helper that was this cute?

(we're only a LOT prejudice!)

As you can see on this "beautiful day in the neighborhood", we're cleaning the yard by using our safety burn barrel. (We discovered it was a bit too windy, so hauling it off will have to do.)

FUN ON THE TRAMPOLINE!

Everybody needs a break from yardwork.
As Madeline says..."Stop jumping. I have more fun running funny."

"Get this trailer movin Papa. We've only got 14 weeks left to MOVE THIS STUFF"

You tell him Madeline!

Check the finish on your floors before you remove the carpet. It can be costly to correct the problem.

This is how you make a king bed out of a double rope bed. "Anything for a buck"

Sarah's new colors. What do you think. No more purple with grapes.

Since getting laid off from Ed Voyles, Becky and I started our own business doing Handy work. "Anything for a buck" as they say. Floors, carpentery, paint of whatever.

Here is Sarah, sporting her new "do" and showing off her dude. If you haven't heard as of yet, they are planning on getting married this summer. I think the date is June 23 but I haven't recieved the final invitation.

She plans of finishing college after they are hitched and he promises to keep her at it.

He is a great guy, but he does drive a Nissan. Oh well, there's always room for improvement.

The stars at night , are big and brignt, but not in Sarah's room any more. They are gone gone. And so is the purple room. It took several coats of paint to cover up.
The first sign of spring.

The young and the old Borders take off on a five mile hike up Mt. Leconte. Hope the old folks can keep up. This was Beth's first back packing trip, hope it's not the last. We had a great weekend with good weather for the smokies.

I hope to get this blog stuff down. Becky and I feel we need to stay young and active, so we thought if we blog together in our own home, it might be fun. ( Don't peek! ) Particularly since
one of our children think we are too old for this sort of stuff.
We have decided its time to get serious about a job since mine played out last November. We coasted through the holiday and now its time to get with it.
Pray for us as we move along trying to find Gods will for us.
When I learn to load picures and the like I will get you something to see.(not us bloggins)
We can blogg with the best of you, even if were older.
